The Future of Open Campus: Agentic, Buybacks, Tokenizations
Open Campus is building the blockchain-powered financial layer for education, and the next phase of that mission brings together AI agents, tokenized finance, and verifiable credentials on a single network.
We envision a future where every learner has an AI agent that understands what they have already learned, where student loans can be tokenized, funded, and repaid onchain, and where qualifications move with the learner across schools, employers, and borders. Over the last three years much of this has been brought on-chain. We are partnering up with @hellominds_ to create the next generation of hyper-personalized learner agents that powers the future of decentralized education. More details to follow.
Open Campus has been buying back $EDU, and we will continue to do so from Open Campus’ treasury. Each buyback will be shown onchain, which can be verified.
TinyTap, a learning platform already used by teachers and students around the world, is the first education business we have designated as a revenue source for EDU buybacks. TinyTap has generated revenues of over US$30 million since 2019.
Pencil Finance completed the first fully onchain student-loan cycle, with USD 1 million deployed on EDU Chain, repaid, and returned to funders with yield. The tokenized bundle comprised a fixed-rate senior tranche and a first-loss junior tranche, funded by @AnimocaBrands, Open Campus, and NewCampus. Loans originated through partners including ErudiFi reached more than 6,600 students across 118 schools in Southeast Asia. The global student-loan market cited alongside that announcement is approximately USD 4.75 trillion. This pilot shows the model works and we’re now ready to grow into a much larger market. The yield from the bundle is separate from the buyback, which is funded by education revenue, beginning with TinyTap and extending to education finance (EduFi) products as these cycles repeat.
Open Campus also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of Madhya Pradesh and Geeks of Gurukul to digitize up to 50 million academic records over 18 months, using verifiable credentials and Open Campus ID on EDU Chain. That figure is already public, and it shows the scale of what we are building: qualifications that employers can verify with confidence, and education financing delivered on the same infrastructure.
Education remains at the heart of everything we do, and the onchain record gives our community a transparent way to see that commitment in action.
Stay educated,
Open Campus Team
